Over half a century of experience goes into every Mitchell project, whether is it as intricate as lace iron work for a Victorian home, as massive as the facbrication of structural steel beams for a convention center, as extensive as shaping condominium balcony railings or as uncomplicated as repairing a ship's ladder.

That experience is tempered by personal pride because this is a family business. Founded in 1951 by Harry Mitchell, the Iron Works has been built on integrity, dependability and a philosophy of customer service that makes repairing a bicycle pedal as important as installing a boardwalk's handrail system.

The second generation of Mitchells learned the importance of upholding these qualities in business as they were learning their craft from their father, which is now being passed down to the third generation of Mitchell's. Today, the company's reputation is one of the most respected in its industry.

Originally located in Wildwood, Mitchell Iron Works moved into its current building in the center of Cape May County in 1990 to better serve its clients throughout southern New Jersey. The four-acre site includes a two-acre yard and a 13,000 square foot building which houses offices, the fabrication workroom and a steel warehouse.
